I am not sure from your description what the exact problem is but:
do you have maxRows set in your dbforms tag?
It determines how many times the body tag and its sub-elements get
executed (evaluated and rendered):
* maxRows = n => body gets executed n times (with n elementOF N)
* maxRows = "*" => body gets executed for every row in the table
(=> "endless" form)
so you would want
<db:dbform tableName="whatever" maxRows="*" ...
