One thing you can try is in the (3) XML Config Tab of DevGui, check the box that says "try to write standard names for unknown fieldtypes into dbforms- config.xml"
That often resolves field type issues. If it doesn't a Postgres user may know another way to solve it.
I'm using a Postgres DB. The unsupported field type is serial. A sequence!!
