Are you using the org.dbforms.util.external.SetCharacterEncodingFilter which sets the charset in doFilter()? If so, what about using request.getCharacterEncoding();

Yes, I do use the SetCharacterEncodingFilter and the idea to get the charset within request.getCharacterEncoding() is good. The question is how to pass the HttpServletRequest object to the SqlUtil and/or JDBCDataHelper classes. I will try to figure this out.
