You did not provide any detail. Without a code snippet it is impossible to
say, except that wildcard searches using % work in sql (an attribute of
the language). The asterisk is a filesystem metacharacter, no one in the
ANSI sql world thinks of an asterisk as a database metacharacter for
searching.
