Which version of the JDK  are you using? I recall vaguely that a recent
release or releases of JDK 1.2.x
contain a bug in the jit that prevents jdb from working correctly. You have
to disable the jit. So my
suggestion would be to try running jdb with the jit disabled to see if that
makes a difference.
