Hi Rich,

I believe the BeanShell was introduced in JDE 2.1.4. I suggest installing
JDE 2.1.6beta4, which is available at the JDE website. It has all the latest
features including a nifty context-sensitive help command for the Java API.

You could probably use 19.34.6 but you might have to get the latest versions
of cc-mode and custom. Please don't ask me to help, however. I've made it
a policy not to try to maintain compatibility or provide tech support for
obsolete
versions of Emacs as I have my hands full supporting current versions. Others
on this list, however, may be able to help you.

My advice, of course, would be for you to upgrade to NT/Emacs 20.3.1. I think
you'll find the experience much more pleasant than you might recall from
your previous experience., as this version includes all the features needed
to run the JDE.
Moreover, there are very detailed instructions for installing NT/Emacs and
JDE on
the JDE website.
