Do you have the JDE package installed? JDE[1] forgets to add that set of
keywords. Try this in your .emacs

(put 'jde-mode 'font-lock-defaults

java-font-lock-keywords-1 java-font-lock-keywords-2
java-font-lock-keywords-3)

Or remove the JDE package to get plain old java-mode.
