size of compile- and run-buffer

it's just a minor inconvenience, but i would like the compilation and run
buffer not to obtain half of the current buffer everytime they are
started.

is it possible to tell them e.g. just to take 10 lines.
i know that something like this is possible in gnus, but i have no  idea
how to make it work in JDE.

any ideas?
