Sigh...still no joy.  I even tried hacking jde-dbs.el to add -classic to the
javaw command used to start jde.debugger.Main.  I also tried KathyLee's
suggestion of starting it jde.debugger.Main outside of Emacs and typing in "-1 1
launch 1 -use_executable javaw -classic -classpath c:/mm/classes X" and
everything works fine.  This is driving me crazy!
