I've been having seom strange problems with Jikes too - IE failes with
some applets, and IBM's JAX has a few problems with Jikes class files.
The fix for me was to revert back to jikes 0.42. I never got a repeatable
way of producing the problem, so couldn't submit a very helpful bug
report.
