A bug in JDK 1.1.x's I/O code caused the beanshell to hang in previous
versions of the JDE. The current version of the JDE contains a version of
the beanshell that has been patched to work around this problem. The patch
appears to work with JDK 1.1.6. Perhaps there is still some problem with
earlier versions.
Or the problem may be with your setup, but I have no way of determining
that as you did not file a complete problem report as I had asked.

You should use JDE->Help->Submit Bug Report regardless of what you think is
the problem. First, you may be mistaken. And in any case, wherever the
problem lies, it is usually impossible to predict what information is
needed to solve the problem. In my experience, people who think they are
supplying the relevant information are rarely right. Thus, the best policy
is to supply ALL information in the first place so as not to waste the
precious time of those who are trying to help you.
