When I customize a variable and "save for future sessions" (sffs), it
shows up in
my .emacs file, but does not show up in the relevant project file.
For a while I was sffs, which put these changes in the
.emacs, but then, when the project file was loaded it overwrote the
changes.
I then went into the project file and hand updated it re the sffs
changes in the .emacs file.
(Sorry I know this is frowned upon, I'm trying to be a good jde citizen,
really :-)

A few questions:

1) If we sffs, do we also need to save project file?
2) What is the effect of having the changes saved to the .emacs file,
when the project files overwrite
any customizations saved there via a sffs? Do future project files
pick up these changes? Or, is
it the case that in the absence of a project file, the .emacs
settings are used? Actually duh, they
most definately are because there's no project file to overwrite
them. So are the .emacs variable
customizations only effective in the absence of a project file?

Thanks.
