You don't need to compile the java files. The JDE distribution includes
a jar file that contains all the JDE classes The source is included only
for the convenience of users who want to modify the JDE classes.

See the instructions on the JDE web site for installing the JDE. The process
is really quite straightforward and does not require compiling of any kind.
