I confirm this problem with xemacs 21.1.6 and NT 4. I tried emacs 20.5.1
with NT 4, the problem does not appear, after every next line or step line,
the source buffer displays the current line. I can try some patch if you
want. I will make a try with xemacs ans Solaris when I'll have a moment.

Hi,
I have a problem that appears randomly: while debugging, doing step line and
next line, when the source buffer needs to be updated to display the current
line, sometime it is updated, sometime it is not. Also, the cursor that
shows the current line is not always showed. Sometime, I can see it
appearing and then disappear. I'm using xemacs 21.1.6 and NT 4.
