Oh good, that makes three of us :) (BTW, Paul, you can count two more
GNU/Linux users who are successfully programming with JDE and JDEbug
at TCS.)

It's not clear to me whether you're still trying to use jdb from within
emacs or whether you're trying to use JDEbug now. I can tell you, though,
that the Sun/Blackdown port of 1.2.2 contains the new version of jdb that
is based on JPDA. Its output is different from "classic" jdb and breaks the
JDE. There should be an executable "oldjdb" in your JDK /bin directory. That
will work with JDE's jdb interface. Better to use JDEbug in any case.
Make sure that you read the JDE user's guide thoroughly and the release notes
that were included with the distribution. If that doesn't help you, yank the
errors from the messages buffer and mail to the list, or submit a problem
report via the menu option JDE->Help->Submit problem report.

We've successfully debugged with JDEbug, from JDE 2.1.6 beta 23, on Blackdown
JDK 1.2.2 rc4. I'm about to try using the new IBM JDK 1.3 (sometime early next
week, I should think). If anybody's interested, I can post results here.
Hope that gets you started.
