No, it's been my experience that it is MUCH faster than regular
expressions. Furthermore, Eric Ludlam and I have been discussing
enhancements to the bovinator that could result in even faster parsing. The
bovinator is a major addition to the Emacs toolset. I'm really greatful to
Eric for filling this long-standing need.
