Just loaded JDE-2.1.7, and when I start emacs, I get in the *Messages*
the following lines:
Loading wid-browse...
Loading wid-browse...done
Error in init file: Symbol's value as variable is void:
speedbar-dynamic-tags-function-list
Fontifying _emacs...
Fontifying _emacs... (regexps............)

To "fix" it, I've put the following in my _emacs:
(setq speedbar-dynamic-tags-function-list nil)
but this strikes me as ugly, and probably just treating the symptom.
I'm not sure whether it's a speedbar bug, or a JDE bug.
I've got speedbar-0.11, semantic-1.1 and emacs-20.7.
Any ideas? Any more information needed?
