I'm not sure about the multiple breakpoints part but I believe problem
with breakpoints not being actually deleted is a known bug. I recall a
message from Paul Kinnican to the effect that he knew about it and was
planning to fix it. I work around it by starting a new emacs instance
when I want to debug so that it doesn't remember all the zombie
breakpoints from the last session.
