Hi Michael,
The error has nothing to do with the JDE. You have some package named bee
installed that is causing the following error
File mode specification error: (void-variable bee-prefixed-map)
when a Java file is opened. The error causes Emacs to abort the execution
of mode functions. jde-mode never gets invoked and hence never gets a
chance to install its menus.
I learned of the existence of the error from the *messages* buffer included
in the JDE problem report. This underscores the importance of always
including a problem report when asking for help.

HOW TO ASK FOR TECH SUPPORT
When requesting technical support, please generate a problem report, using
the JDE->Help->Submit Problem Report command, and submit this report along
with your help request. Please do this even if you think most of the report
is irrelevant. If you knew what were relevant, you wouldn't need my help.
