Perhaps the difference isn't that I'm using Unix, but that my
environment is not configured correctly. In your .bat file did you
change anything other than switching from shared memory to socket
transport? If this is all you changed, I will carefully go through all
of your setup and make sure that I am setting everything equivalently.
Thanks!!

WebLogicserver

I believe that you are correct in concluding that you need to use the
socket interface.

I've never used the socket before since I've only had need to debug on
my
local NT workstation. So I modified my startServerDebug.bat to use the
socket option like you had. I was able to successfully start weblogic
and
attach to it with the JDEbug commands.

Now obviously the difference is that I am running NT and you are running
UNIX. I am sorry to say that I can not be of any more help other than to
say that sockets appear to work on NT.
