We're using jde with great success and enjoyment, thanks for the great
software!

Most of us enable jde abbrev mode expansion, but when we do there is
one strange behavior that occurs. While writing comments we want to
capitalize words at the beginning of sentences, but words with an
abbreviation are automatically downcased. For instance, the text:

             /* If

Is automatically changed to

             /* if

when the space bar is pressed. Interestingly, the rest of the
expansion is not performed (no parens or curly braces). This
conversion occurs for all the abbreviations (e.g., Do, While, Else).

I've read the emacs info section on abbrev-mode and know that we can
prevent the conversion by following these keywords with C-q <space>,
but I'm wondering if there is a better way. The fact that the
complete expansion is not performed suggests that abbrev mode might
know we "in a comment". Can that behavior be used somehow to avoid
the expansion entirely?

Thanks,
