I believe the problem arises because jde does a dynamic "(require
'jde-ant)" and  jde-ant does a "(require 'jde)"

Remove the "(require 'jde)" line from jde-ant, and the problem should go
away.

I cannot reproduce this recursive loading error nor can I see how it can
occur since JDE 1.2.8beta4 requires jde-ant in only one place. Perhaps you
have a compiled version of an earlier version of the JDE with an extra
require statement somewhere in your load path that is causing this
recursive load.
