I saw this a while back but can't recall the details.  If you want,  
you can dig back in the list archive, find the files, and integrate  
them.

If memory servers, someone has already done all the work to get it to  
work in 23.  However, we still support 22.

I think it might even be in the current code base with a lexical if  
around the avl code (or some kind of 'require).
