Why you want to change the name? What's wrong with the old one?
There's no reason to do that.

IMHO only if you want to create completely separate project.

However, as I've said before, without someone driving the project
it won't work. It's easy to start yet another new dead OSS project,
but it takes real effort to develop it for longer period of time 
(years?).

Don't get me wrong - I'm not discouraging you. I just state my concerns,
based on what anyone can see: people start new projects all the time.
Most of them are dead before release 1.
The same happens in companies when someone decides to rewrite a system.
It very often fails.
