You have to provide Winjab w/ the location of the DAV server and you're
credentials, etc.. And yes, it would be nice if the public jabber servers
provided public WebDAV servers for this purpose.

Interesting. Where does it find the server? Last time I looked, support
for WebDAV was still pretty rare among ISPs or web hosting providers. Or
is it intended that your Jabber server also runs WebDAV?
