We are trying to setup a jabber server on a domain, say "foo.com"
Unfortunately, because of politics and such we don't have access to
"foo.com", but we can set it up on
"jabber.foo.com". But we want our users to be at "foo.com". We want jids
to be "[EMAIL PROTECTED]", not
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]". Our server can be configured to do this. But then
other servers cannot connect
to use, further, other jabber clients cannot connect to our server.
I'd like to see all jabber software including servers prepend jabber to a
domain and try that if they try to
connect to somewhere like "foo.com" port 5222 and fail.
Is there any reason not to do this? Of course the Jabber gods would have to
bless this.
