The details are at http://jabber.org/?oid=971 and it actually works with the PUT or POST methods, and should work over ssl if you have your server built to support ssl as well. Although it's built into the default socket manager that comes w/ 1.4, it's not yet been included into any of the external socket manager projects that I know of, although it shouldn't be hard for them to add support if people find it useful.
