Depends on what you want to do. Making a lib that loads into jabberd can be handy. Though going for stability by running several jabberd processes might not work well for you.
I have had luck so far with the component accept model. But I am by no means an expert.The accept does not restrict you to C where the lib forces you into the jabberd API. However, accept does run over tcp/ip where the lib is loaded directly into the jabberd process ( I will let you guess which method is faster ) Other than that, its relatively the same. So it basically depends on what you want to do, and what trade off scenario you like better.
