In general its not done because jsse contains security code that falls under a lot of country's export laws. Even if your country allows it, the Sun license (assuming you're using Sun's code) has certain restrictions about redistribution. If you are setting up the webpage that hosts the applet, the safest bet is to use the Java plug-in api/markup.
