Amar - All streams to and from a jabber server should be UTF-8. So yes, you need to encode everything coming from your client and send that in UTF-8 form. Corrrespondingly, you should decode everything you get from the server FROM UTF-8 to make sure unicode characters are decoded (and eventually displayed) properly.
