The log files that JIM writes are encrypted, as a result of adamant customer requirements. The key to decrypt those files is not publicly available (for obvious reasons), and I don't know of any way to retrieve the data in them without using JIM.
You are correct that we no longer offer JIM as a product of Jabber, Inc., so the support available is limited.
