Hi all,

Correct me if i'm wrong, but surely efficiency is also one of the
goals of the jabber server? I know that there were plans to lose pth at
some point, and surely this kind of approach would benefit all. What I
would love is to see a server with the best of both worlds, rather
than a fork in the technology.

I also wish to join jabberd1.4.2 project but jabber1.4.2 is not developed any more.
I started to develop WPJabber about year ago. In first version WPJabber was developed
only for our purposes as server for our own communicator. So fork in this projects was
done a year ago. Now it was rebuilded to get back to jabber protocol specification and to give
people fast, stable and reliable server.

This seems to be jabberd 1.4.2 (?) with pthreads instead of pth for the
threading. Is there any reason you did not just contribute these changes
to the jabberd project rather than make your own project? I'm confused.

WPJabber is based on jabberd1.4.2 but wpjabber project targets are different.
Our target is efficiency. WPJabber hasn't all jabberd1.4.2 functionality due to
different architecture. WPJabber mio and mtq are completly different. xdb_file is
completly rewritten. jsm is also changed.
Now I'm rewriting deliver functions.
WPJabber was made to handle large amount of users online.
