From your component send a presence probe to the user. If you don't hear back, they're not online. I know this works on local users whom do not have the component in their roster. I don't remember what the rules are for users in different domains.
I tried this (with jabberd 1.4.2) with no success. In the server's log I can see :
mod_presence [EMAIL PROTECTED] attempted to probe by someone not qualified
when the component sends : <presence type="probe" from="[EMAIL PROTECTED]" to="[EMAIL PROTECTED]"/>
It fails the same way when using from="compo".
What am I missing ?
