We have just re-started with Jabber (after a initial look in 2000 :)

We had two years of our own proprietary IM solution out there with light 
usage and no-one has ever asked for text formatting of any sort.

We now have 20 odd people using our pre-release jabber client and again, 
no-one appears to have noticed there is no text formatting, these users 
are currently on Yahoo!

I think it's great to have a standard to use for this, and essential for 
interoperability, but we won't be using it any time soon.
