Server admins that don't want scripts to automatically make accounts might take an approach that I've seen on some boards: before you are officially registered, you have to describe what you *see* on a program generated picture, eg. [EMAIL PROTECTED]This would prevent scripts from creating hundreds of accounts but IMO it's more efficient for a spammer to just setup a temporary server in that case..
Of course, as not every server admin would use this, it would still be "heaven" for spammers, but then, there wouldn't be so many domainnames so they would be more easy to reject.Eeeh, except when spammers start using services like dyndns.org :\
BTW I really like the idea of sending some image to someone who wants to be added to your roster but the main disadvantage of this is that bots/agents/components will never be able to reply to that :\
BTW2 the Advogato idea sounds really interesting (if implemented on the s2s level, having clients deal with this would make things way too complex).
