I was under the impression that you couldn't use the DNS service, and thus also the 
jabber.org JUD and dialback service unless jabberd were running on an FQDN.  At least 
I couldn't get these services to work from an IP address ;-)

If this is the case, you might try disabling these services to see if it helps.
