I've just had a look and someone appears to have cracked it, they have a set of functions that create the new challenge response
I have had a quick look at the code, but as i'm not familiar with the yahoo transport and know very little C/C++ i'm a little lost

I tried to do it by changing it to 0x0A00 but it does not work. It is
