A very interesting discussion but aren't we reinventing the wheel here?
Maybe it's a good idea to figure out what existing (closed/open) solutions are out there? People have thought about these problems a lot harder and longer than we every will :D We are trying to create a great IM platform (and more), other people/companies/groups are specialized in providing audio/video conferencing solutions.
TRUE, but there is nothing out there. I dont know why, but there is not realy something going on except services for big companys. OK, there is gnoemeeting but it also use H323. Perhaps it is a result of a patent
issue that preserve people from doing it. I dont know.
If someone can tell my a firewall, cross platform friendly solution i
will unsubscripe from Jabber and Speex and stil use it ;-).
But i dont find something out there.
