No, I toasted everything and retried the RPM-way.

Got much further this time, alas I get:

ERROR: c2s died. Shutting down server.

I've modified the XML files to use our internal jabber server, rather than 127.0.0.1. I've launched the mysql database, however the mysqladmin command doesn't exist on the system (locate -u; locate mysqladmin). And neither does the "mysql" command, which is very strange seeing how I installed from RPMs.

So I'm going to give it one more try with the instructions at:

http://www.jabberdoc.org/app_mysql.html

If this doesn't work, I'll find a different Jabber server (I think I remember seeing some Java implementations). Can't waste much more time on this, unfortunately.

Hello, we had a similar problem and we solved it by installing zlib or something like that.
