Using the -D switch I see the XML is very different... anyway, with the unmodified JabberApplet I was able to connect to Jabberd2. Weird... I have just installed e4applet, and it was able to connect and works perfectly. Anyway I'd like to use the JabberApplet because it was already modified to work with swing and had icons :( (of course it is heavier than the original code, but sometimes marketing ppl prefer the eyecandy :) ).
