There are many server packages available for Windows. jabberD is not your only choice. In fact, the Merak, SoapBox, and TIMP servers are all Windows-only! http://www.jabber.org/software/servers.php So yes, there are many server developers aware of market share. :) That said, if you want details about the jabberd roadmap, you might get better results by writing to the jabberd mailing list.
