Or what if jabber.org was the "community site" and xmpp.org became the protocol dev site?
No that would just confuse things, and unless we are going to start putting all of our protocol extensions (JEPs) through the IETF instead of the JSF would be wholy inappropriate, IMO xmpp.org should stay as it is and only document XMPP standards, if we really must use jabber.org as the community site we would need a new domain to replace it such as jsf.org or something along those lines, xmpp.org is definately out of the question. Doing as you suggest would also dredge up the old name change debate which is also something which IMO we dont want to waste any more time over.
