Hi Remko, Thanks for the response. I'm using OpenFire for the server software, and I enabled the IM Gateway plugin which allows me to talk to YIM, MSN, etc.
I think I've narrowed down the problem - seems like it might be a bug in the YIM transport. When I reply "subscribed" to MSN and gtalk, it seems to work fine, but in the case of YIM it doesn't even send me the subscribe request. A more general question - is it necessary to follow 'subscribed' with a subscription request of your own? Ie, do I need to be subscribed to all people that are subscribed to me, or is it fine to just send 'subscribed' and be done with it? In my case, I don't need to know their presence, I just want them to be able to IM my bot.
