Greetings -
RFC 3920 says that the Resource identifier should be opaque to both the client and server. My question is how opaque is opaque? If I am a client and I have several different types of resources (cell phone, desktop app, etc.) connect to a server when messages are sent to a JID, should said message go to all said resources? Also unclear is who sets the resource ID. It makes sense that if I am a client, I know what my resource ID SHOULD be, but I may not necessarily know that an identical resource could exist and cause a potential collision. When would a resource be bound by the Server, and how would that be communicated back to the client? Thanks! Matt Mason [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]>
