I believe Naveen is asking about the type of data repository that a BI (business intelligence) tool such as Cognos PowerPlay will produce. I know this is not a completely accurate description, but it's essentially an n-dimensional datastore that can be drilled into and queried. These "cubes" are usually generated from an RDB. Other tools in the BI suite allow for query of the cube.
I believe that Cognos also offers a web-based front end to perform these queries. As to the inderlying technology of this web-interface, I do not know.
