Yes, that is a great idea. I used a similar idea for RTF files a while back - save a Word RTF file as a template with place-holder strings. When I need to fill in real data, I open the RTF as a plain text file, and search for the place holder strings and replace them with real data, and delivery this RTF file to user's browser.
The Excel idea from Henry is not so straight forward as the RTF one... The limitation for both RTF and Excel/HTML is, one can handle 10 reports in this way, not 100 reports...that's why we are using Actuate e-Report now...
