two other directions for searching :
a) newsgroups about Next and NextStep(TM) [-> the idea of Mr. Steve(n)
Job(b)s ]  might be able to help since that machine realized complete
screen display in Postscript (at least the first versions available years
ago)
b) Thomas Scheunemann from Duisburg (Germany) created some Postscript
conversion tools (besides plotter-file conversion) years ago.
(--> e.g. www.google.de might help to find him)
