IMHO, anyone who can ask that question is probably qualified. :-)  If you enjoy the exercises in the books members of the list recommended, you'll *probably* enjoy programming in Java.  Ever considered a Java volunteer job/internship?  Best way to try out a job.

Otherwise, I would seriously consider being a surfer, ski patrol, or a whitewater rafting guide...

Subject: [jdjlist] examinations/tests of java students

questionsThis is related to one of my previous email =
questions :-

I am also interested in "assessment"/"testing" of java students.

So for example I am interested in the Sun Certified Java Programmer =
Exam.

Is there any research that has been done on assessment/testing of java =
programming students ?

I suppose the universities/high schools that teach java programming, =
would have created their own java tests and examinations ? And that =
possibly you could have a look at these if you were a member or had =
access to these examination papers.

I am sort of interested in how these tests/examinations are created and =
how they are evaluated -- with say using "classical test theory" or =
"item response theory" ? Has any work been done on this ?

And also, is there anything that is available that is able to assess a =
person's "aptitude for computer programming" ? In other words some way =
to predict whether someone will be able to cope with learning java =
programming ? That sort of thing ?

Or would that depend on what materials are used to teach the student ?=20
