Communicate to a server through common protocols (HTTP Post request, socket
connection...) and the application can than be a SWING/AWT or a Microsoft
Windows application. Or both can be made. Define the server side requests
(and parameters) independent of the front-end application. This will allow
for separation of the reporting from gathering of request for a report. With
an independent reporting server application, you can add scheduling and
automate request independently from the usage of the front-end application.

Have the front-end application gather and issue the report requirements to
your server report application. If needed, use XML to allow for complex
structures of both report parameters, report results, status/logs, scheduled
runs. If the front-end application needs to display the completed report it
could get it from the server when the status changes, or as a response.

Subject: [jdjlist] Communication between Windows ToolKit and J2EE
      Application

Hi All,
I have a specific requirement of generating reports based on the USER
selection thru the GUI application. due to client specification we are
bound
not to use SWING/AWT for client side interface. So we have to use "Windows
ToolKit" for building GUI.
Now I don't know "how to communicate with Windows ToolKit from a J2EE
application"... If anyone has any idea pls help me in finding the High
Level
architechtural solution for the above stated problem.

can we use "Eclipse" for this purpose.... I could not get direct info from
http://www.eclipse.org/.

UR help is highly appreciated

Thanks...
manoj
