Best place to start is probably the "IBM Developer Kit for Java" webpage: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/iseries/v5r2/ic2924/index.htm?info/rzaha/whatitis.htm There are also several mailing lists at http://www.midrange.com, and the primary usenet newsgroup is news:comp.sys.ibm.as400.misc ... Modern AS400 (now called "iSeries") boxen scale all the way up to 32-way SMP with 72TB disk. Of course, Websphere is the premier IBM offering, but users have all the choices a compliant JVM can give them. I know of users who employ only open-source solutions (such as Tomcat, for instance) on iSeries, so the door is by no means closed.
